Eastenders and The Bill

Todd was born in Ireland and began his career at the age of four in London. He made his stage debut at the New London Theatre, Drury Lane, where he played the leading role of ‘Lionel’ in the musical based on Lionel Bart’s life. On television he appeared in “Z Cars” (BBC), “Our Mutual Friend” (BBC), “Drummer” (BBC), “Headmaster” (BBC), “Focus On Britain” (German TV ), “The Idle Bunch” (German TV ), “We’re Happy” (RTE). His early film work included “Professor Popper’s Problems”, “Please Sir”. “The Gang’s OK” and “The Magic Trip”. 


Todd’s first major Television role was playing the lead of ‘Tucker’ in BBC TV’s “Grange Hill” for a period of five years, which proved so popular that he was then offered his own series playing ‘Tucker’ as an adult in “Tucker’s Luck”. Christmas ’97 saw Todd co-starring with Nick Berry in “The Black Velvet Band”, the adventure film drama for Yorkshire Television, however, Todd is best known for his role as the central character ‘Mark Fowler’ in the BBC’s Award-winning Flagship drama series “EastEnders”, a role he played for twelve years until February 2003.

Film work at that time included a science fantasy film for Columbia Pictures called “Krull” directed by Peter Yates, where he played the role of ‘Oswin’. He also turned his hand to comic roles in films including; “What’s In It For You?”, “A Question Of Balance”, “Serve Them Right” and “The Candy Show”, a comedy fantasy film, where he played the role of ‘Randy Candy’.

Other Television has included guest appearances and celebrity interviews on;  “Jim’ll Fix It”, “MultiColoured Swap Shop”,“Saturday Superstore”,“Breakfast Time”,“Pebble Mill at One”,  ”Live & Kicking”, “Des O’Connor Tonight”, “Grange Hill’s 21st Birthday”,“Harry Hill’s TV Show”, “Celebrity Ready Steady Cook”, The Weakest Link – EastEnders Special” and “EastEnders Revealed”.

Radio credits have included; “Les Miserables” (BBC), “The Three Loves Of Ida Bliss” (BBC), “Wavelength” (BBC), “Midweek” (BBC), “Jellybones” (Capital), “Harry Hill’s Fruit Corner” (BBC) and “London Particulars” (BBC).

Todd’s work in Pantomime includes playing ‘Ali Baba’ in the BBC’s Christmas Pantomime “Aladdin” and the ‘Captain’s Mate’ in “Dick Whittington” at the Orchard Theatre, Dartford and ‘King Rat’ in “ Dick Whittington” at High Wycombe in 2005/06.

Todd has voiced many popular commercials, and has been the Narrator on numerous Television programmes such as; “Scene in New York”, “The Jungle Creatures”, “Streets Apart” (BBC1), “The Fame Game” (BBC Scotland), “Snapshot – Eddie Kidd” (BBC) “Driving Mum Crazy” (Meridian) and more recently “Paddington Green” (BBC).

Todd recently completed filming his regular role as ‘P.C Gabriel Kent/ David Kent’ in Talkback/ Thames Television’s drama “The Bill’ and the role of ‘Ray Hallam’ in the Christmas Special of HEARTBEAT, he also played the role of ‘Cameron Cooke’ in HOLBY CITY and Directed several episodes of DOCTORS for the BBC.
