Louis Smith

Louis Smith is an artistic gymnast. He was a prominent member of the Great Britain gymnastics team at the London 2012 Olympics. The team won Bronze in the men's artistic team all-around event on 30 July 2012. This marked the first team medal for a British Olympic gymnastics team in 100 years.

Louis' specialist gymnastics discipline is the pommel horse and at the London 2012 Olympics he won the Silver medal in the men's pommel horse final, receiving the same score as Hungary's Krisztián Berki; but Berki was awarded the gold medal due to having a higher execution score.

He won Bronze in the pommel horse at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This was first time a British gymnast had medalled in an Olympic event since 1928.

Louis is a member of the Huntingdon Gymnastics Club, training alongside teammate Daniel Keatings under coach Paul Hall.

In autumn 2012 Louis joined the line-up for the 10th season of the BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing'  partnering Flavia Cacace.

Louis’ profile in the media continues to grow substantially with him often being referred to as the poster boy of the London Olympics. His physique, good looks and outgoing personality have seen him appear in a number of mainstream publications, TV and radio programmes and advertising campaigns.

Feedback

"Louis was an absolute delight to work with. He totally charmed the audience and they all hung on every word he said during his Q&A. He is not only inspirational, he is also a fantastic role model and his vibrant personality and sharp wit made the event a huge success. People are still talking about him now and we really appreciated how patient he was with all the ladies lining up to get their photo taken with him!!" Aim Awards Dinner - October 2012
