Lewis Pugh

Lewis Pugh

In 2007 Lewis Pugh did something only a polar bear would dream of doing. He dived into the icy waters of the North Pole and swam for 18 minutes and 50 seconds. Wearing only Speedo swimming trunks and a pair of goggles, he emerged as the first person to complete a long distance swim at the top of the world.

Lewis is also the only person to have completed a long distance swim in every ocean of the world.  In a career spanning 23 years he has pioneered more swims around famous landmarks than any other swimmer in history. Often referred to as “Aqua Al Gore” and the “Voice of the Arctic”, the Cambridge-educated lawyer left his law practice in 2003 to campaign for the protection of the environment.

Lewis is one of the busiest speakers on the international speaking circuit undertaking over 100 speeches per annum in Europe, the USA and South Africa. His speeches have received widespread acclaim.  His speech on leadership to the Business Innovation Forum Conference in the USA was voted as one of the “7 Most Inspiring Videos on the Internet” by Mashable, the leading media guide.  And in January the World Economic Forum appointed him a Young Global Leader for his “potential to shape the future of the world through his inspiring leadership.”

Lewis’s story is powerful and inspiring.  He speaks with much experience on having a vision in life, goal setting, courage, perseverance, self motivation, harnessing the power of the mind, leadership, teamwork, overcoming setbacks, leaving an enduring legacy, and of course protecting our fragile world.

Lewis’s accomplishments have received extensive media coverage by the BBC, Good Morning America, CNN, Jon Stewart, National Geographic, Sky News, Jay Leno and many more.  And he has received numerous awards including the Freedom of the City of London and South Africa's equivalent of a Knighthood - the Order of Ikhamanga (Gold Class).

His presentations major on:

• Vision

• Goal setting

• Planning and preparation

• Motivation and inspiration

• Leadership

• Teamwork

• Power of the mind
