Lamont
Lord Lamont of Lerwick had been an MP for 25 years, serving the Kingston upon
Thames constituency. He was Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1990 - 1993 and
prior to that held the post of Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
From the right wing of the Conservative Party, Norman was an advocate of free
enterprise and an acknowledged expert on European Monetary Union and global
trade. Lord Lamont is an excellent after dinner speaker, and has spoken at many
Burns Nights.
