Mishal has
just returned from a tour of
duty as a
Washington
Correspondent for the BBC, to be a news anchor for BBC World. The BBC's
international channel now reaches over 250 million homes worldwide, and
Mishal's programmes have a large prime-time evening audience in the US
and Canada.
She also appears on BBC 1's weekly current affairs programme
- Real Story. Thus far, her career reflects her interests - including
international law and human rights, the global economy, and the Muslim
world.
Mishal first
tasted journalism on leaving school in 1991, training at
The News - one of Pakistan's
English-language daily papers & her first
job after university was at Bloomberg Television in London
Joining BBC
World as a producer in 1998, Mishal began reporting for the
specialist BBC Economics and Business Unit, later presenting business
news on BBC World and BBC News 24.
In 2000 she
became the first anchor of BBC World's 'Asia Business
Report', launched from the BBC's
Asia
headquarters in
Singapore.
Back in
London, Mishal co-presented BBC World and BBC News 24's flagship
'World Business Report'. On the day New York markets re-opened after
9/11, she was live in
Times Square charting
reaction to the attacks. A
year on, she covered the anniversary commemorations at the Pentagon.
