TIME OUT 2003 AWARD WINNER: BEST STAND–UP
ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY 2003 AWARD WINNER: BEST ON-SCREEN NEWCOMER
SILVER ROSE OF MONTREUX AWARD 2003: BEST GAME SHOW (‘Your Face Or

ROSE D'OR NOMINATION 2004: BEST PRESENTER ('Distraction')
One of the most original and
distinctive new stars on television, Jimmy will be hosting a new
primetime Channel 4 panel show '8 out of 10 Cats' June
to August. As the face of Channel 4, Jimmy has many successful shows
behind him, including 'The Friday Night Project', two
series of 'Distraction' and 'Your Face Or Mine'
and many appearances on shows such as 'Parkinson', 'Friday
Night With Jonathan Ross', 'Top Gear' and 'The
Royal Variety Show'. Jimmy has also broken into US TV with 3
appearances on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', 2 on 'Late
Night with Conan O'Brien' and his own 12 part series of
'Distraction' on Comedy Central.
2004 was a remarkably successful year
for Jimmy’s live work. In 2003 he sold out an entire month’s
performances of his Edinburgh Festival show
‘Charm Offensive’
by the second day of the festival, and received 5* reviews from
four major newspapers. In 2004 he performed sold out solo shows at
Dublin’s Vicar Street, & the Leicester Comedy Festival, can also soon be
seen at the Glasgow Festival, Kilkenny Festival and the Galway Festival
along with appearances at The Bloomsbury Theatre, London where he filmed
his first live DVD (now available to buy).
‘The brightest British comic hope for a
long, long while…The most deliciously transgressive comic…He is not so
much pushing out the boundaries as sailing in uncharted waters…Superb.’
Irish Times
‘A masterclass in comedy…devastating,
tasteless two-liners that are bliss to listen to…Carr’s persona is
irresistible, and his wisecracks have you quivering with satisfaction’
Guardian
‘Witty, surprising, different, and
clearly a new onscreen presenter for the future.’
Kirsty Young, Presenter, RTS Awards 2003. |
UK television guest appearances include
'Friday Night with Jonthan Ross' (BBC1, Nov 04), Top Gear
(BBC2, Nov 04), ‘Des O’Connor Comedy Tonight’ (ITV, Aug 03)
‘Have I Got News For You’ (as panellist, BBC2, May 03),
‘The
Royal Variety Show’ (BBC1, Dec 02) and ‘Peter Cook: A
Posthumourous Tribute’ (BBC2, Dec 02).
Jimmy is also fast becoming a face on US TV: He has performed a remarkable three
times within five months on NBC’s ‘Tonight With Jay Leno’, and
twice on NBC’s ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’.
Jimmy can be heard on 104.9 XFM every Sunday
morning where he presents the breakfast show from 10.00am to 12.00. He is also a
regular guest and interviewer on Loose Ends (Radio 4) and
The Fred McCauley Show (BBC Radio Scotland).
Jimmy is a prolific writer as well as
performer, with writing credits including Bo Selecta! (BBC2) &
Meet Ricky Gervais (C4) as well as writing for Lily Savage and
Frank Skinner.
As would be expected of a comedian with a
soaring international profile, Jimmy also performs at all the international
comedy festivals, and was one of very few top British comedians selected to
appear at the world’s two top Comedy Festivals; in
Montreal for
the “Just For Laughs” Festival in July 2002 and 2003 and in
Aspen at the
International Comedy Arts Festival
in February 2003.
Jimmy completed a highly successful 2004, by appearing in the 'Royal
Variety Show' and presenting 'Comedian's Comedian'(C4)and
'The Big Fat End Of Year Quiz' (C4). Jimmy is currently in
talks for a new prime-time TV show for 2005. |
