As
the new face of BBC World's Fast Track, Akhtar Khan joins the channel's weekly
global round-up of travel news for both the leisure and business sectors. In addition to fronting Fast Track, Akhtar is reporter and news presenter on
the BBC's domestic 24-hour rolling news channel, News 24, and presents his own
show on the BBC Asian Network radio station. Akhtar started his journalism career after a stint as a funds manager at a
City of London investment bank, working as reporter and later as entertainment
correspondent on European Business News/CNBC. Following this he moved to Pearson TV as on-screen reporter and film critic
before returning to a role as on-screen entertainment and arts reporter with Sky
News.
Here he covered every possible arts angle from film to visual arts and rock
to opera and interviewed a host of celebrities and personalities including
Madonna, Barry White, Charlton Heston, Jonny Depp and Tom Cruise to name but a
few. In the corporate world Akhtar is in demand as a host and conference
facilitator, tackling serious issues and lighter topics alike. Recent
assignments have included conference facilitation for Ernst & Young, presenting
at the BAFTAs and hosting the World Travel Awards.
Akhtar lives in London, although his position with Fast Track sees him
travelling around the world frequently. He lists his hobbies as playing polo, white water rafting, skiing,
travelling, cooking and current affairs. |
